Spotlight Series Overview

Many of the GSE blog series have great content about how GSE solutions can help people across dozens of industries collect, move, and manage the data intelligence of their business. This series will get more specific and focus on the specific features of those products and solutions, and how they deliver value to people in specific job functions. The series will introduce the REAL people using GSE's products, and exactly how they find ways to save time, save money, and keep people safe.

Sometimes, seeing the value of a product as feature-rich as GSatTrack requires this kind of detailed deep-dive. The goal of this series is for each person reading the articles to have the opportunity to recognize themselves in these personas, and apply these solutions to their daily activity. We are confident that any asset manager who reads every article in this series will find at least one way to make their lives easier with GSE products.

Pasture Management

A Solution for Shelley

Shelley's ranch in eastern Washington has 350 head and covers roughly 5000 hectares. Shelley recently cooperated with three other nearby ranches to deploy the GSatRancher tags throughout their herds to cover all bulls, lead cows, and heifers. This has allowed them to become better land managers, share pasture management data, and address any health concerns as a group.

Shelley’s Problem

Shelley has been contacted by nearby wheat farmers via the University to study intensive grazing, as a method to address the current market issues with fertilizer. They will take soil samples before hand for a baseline. Once the cattle are on site, they will continually sample throughout the process to find when the field is ready to plant. Combined with the amount of cattle and period of time, they hope to have a repeatable process to help improve resource management.

Geofences

Geofences allow GSatTrack users to know how tags are interacting in a certain area. Users will be alerted when tags enter or exit Geofences, and how long they dwell inside of Geofences if configured that way. By stacking Geofences, users can define very specific interactions within the chosen area. Beyond Alerts, as tags interact with Geofences, the Report menu allows detailed reports to be generated and shared with third parties.

Using Geofences

Shelley's Missing Piece

With the Geofences created in GSatTrack, Shelley is able to share the detailed data on the amount of cattle and grazing time, and combined with the soil sampling, they are able create a solution for more intelligent decision making when it comes to fertilizing fields.
